PROBLEM STATEMENT
In what way might I create a nice place for my daugther, where she can work, play and sleep?
Primary user needs:
The concept I choose to work on is concept L. Liftable desk.
Below you find the images of the improved prototype. Since last week I worked on the desk and on the decoration and lighting. Decoration and lighting were items that didn't had so much attention untill now.
In what way might I create a nice place for my daugther, where she can work, play and sleep?

The concept I choose to work on is concept L. Liftable desk.
Below you find the images of the improved prototype. Since last week I worked on the desk and on the decoration and lighting. Decoration and lighting were items that didn't had so much attention untill now.
View 1 - View from above with lifted desk.
View 2 - Lifted desk. There is a photograph decoration on the wall. I want to take a theme for the decoration: nature. My daugther really likes green and nature.
View 3 - Lifted desk. You can see the changes on the desk. I designed it to be two panels with a frame in the middle. This makes the desk more lightweight and easy to handle. Also this gives the opportunity to install lighting in the desk. When the desk is lifted, the bed has a ceiling with light.
View 4 - Desk lowered. You can see the little frame on the wall. I designed this for two reasons. First to make an object in which photos and other decoration can be placed and easily can be changed. Second to make it possible to guide the lifting and lowering of the desk. Otherwise the desk could move in unpleasant directions while lifting and lowering.
EXPLAINING THE DESIGN
In this concept I could use the bed that my daughter already has. That makes it easy and cheap. It is a normal sized bed, so the sleeping place is no issue.
The working place is more complex. This week I thought of some improvements, but I have to figure out how I should lift the desk in a good way, without huge costs. But it is clear, that if we can get this work, she has plenty of space to work on.
The good point in this design is all the room that is left to play. The floor is largely free for playing and the desk itself has become an attraction. So this user need is also tackled.
Lounging with friends is solved by placing two nice and comfortable chairs. Also, when the desk is lifted, you could lounge on the bed.
The atmosphere of the room is good. Ventilation is possible, there are windows that can be opened. I could look at the possibility of placing a mosquito-curtain under the desk. When the desk is lifted the curtain could be wrapped around the bed. But ofcourse it is also possible to place a mosquito-blind at the window.
I like the coloring so far. I think I could refine this further.
Also on decorating I could do more.
Last but not least. The room is very practical. You can easily walk through the room and every function has its storage. The only thing that keeps me busy: will it be able to lift and lower the desk in an easy and safe way.
